Katy Perry to get animated in 'The Sims' video game series

It's a teenage dream for many to spend more time with Katy Perry. Well those dreams are coming true as the pop singer will now be featured in the popular computer game "The Sims."

Electronic Arts announced Tuesday (Jan. 17) that Perry will collaborate with the game maker for a series of "Sims" projects. The first of these comes through in March with the launch of "The Sims 3: Showtime." Perry will also be featured in their advertising and marketing campaigns.

Perry says in a statement, "It's cool to see the Sims' stage performances in 'The Sims 3: Showtime' decked out just like my California Dreams Tour -- even my cotton candy video screens are in there! I always like to think of myself as a cartoon, and now I'm a Sim!"

This isn't Perry's first time as an animated character. She recently voiced Smurfette in the cartoon movie "The Smurfs."

Now, when Perry wakes up dazed and confused about whatever happened last Friday night, the answer is simple - she was just playing video games until the wee hours of the morning.
