Harry Potter" Cleans Up at the 2011 Box Office

A vast majority of movie sequels seem to flop at the box office, but that does not stand true for “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2.”

The eighth and final installment of the “Harry Potter” film series earned more than $1.3 billion worldwide at the box office putting it in first place for 2011.

Some sequels that weren’t as successful as predicted included movies like “Happy Feet Two,” “Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows” and “Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked” according to box office analyst Jeff Bock.

On the flip side, Bock is also predicting that sequels such as “The Dark Knight Rises,” “Breaking Dawn- Part 2,” “The Hobbit,” “The Avengers” and “Men in Black 3” will dominated the box office earnings in 2012.
