We’re less than two months away from the 84th Academy Awards, and today the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences released the show’s official promotional poster.
The new artwork contains the tagline “Life. Camera. Action.” along with “Celebrate the Movies In All Of Us.”
In addition to the iconic Oscar trophy, the poster also features memorable images from eight legendary films- “Gone with the Wind,” “Casablanca,” “Giant,” “The Sound of Music,” “The Godfather,” “Driving Miss Daisy,” “Forrest Gump,” and “Gladiator.”
Academy President Tom Sherak told press, "Whether it's a first date or a holiday gathering with friends or family, movies are a big part of our memory. The Academy Awards not only honor the excellence of these movies, but also celebrate what they mean to us as a culture and to each of us individually."
Oscar nominations will be announced on January 24th, 2012 and the 84th Academy Awards will take place on February 26th, 2012.
